Asociatia Prietenilor Camino de Santiago
The Association of the Friends of the Camino de Santiago was founded in 2016, becoming the first and only organization of its kind in Romania. Our vision is to reconnect Romania with the vast European network of pilgrimage routes leading to Santiago de Compostela by establishing a Romanian Camino route spanning approximately 2,300 kilometers, thereby contributing to the over 80,000 kilometers of Camino paths across Europe.
Our mission is threefold:
1. To make the Camino de Santiago accessible to as many people as possible, offering them the transformative experience of this unique pilgrimage.
2. To facilitate access for international pilgrims and integrate Romania into the wider Jacobean community.
3. To restore Romania’s historical connection to the medieval pilgrimage route.
Through these continued efforts, Camino de România is not only a path across a nation—it is a bridge of history, faith, and cultural identity, reconnecting Romania with a sacred European heritage.
