Southampton has officially joined the international Camino de Santiago network with the unveiling of a new granite waymarker. Shipped from Spain, the milestone designates the city as the end of the 68-mile “St James’ Way” from Reading.

Samuel Lutz-Léchot (1944–2025) was a visionary figure in the European pilgrimage movement. As the first president of the Swiss Pilgrimage Association jakobsweg.ch, he dedicated his life to promoting the Camino de Santiago routes across Europe.
